Sounds like a project that took forever but finally came to fruition. I've always wanted to visit Venice. My friend told me how beautiful it is and contrary to what she had heard, it didn't smell at all.

Venice is interesting, but there ard two caveats. The tourist season is so crowded you will see nothing and the pizzas in Venice are awful. January is not crowded at all, but the city tends to be flooded and, no bad thing, most bars and restairants are closed.
The best times are probably late October/November or March/April.
We had been warned about the pizzas by Italian members of oir family, so naturally we tried one. Our family was right!!!
