I keep hearing politicians bitching about "partisanship", all from the Republicans, the people that invented partisanship. You don't get to lie, steal, and force your will on the American people and accuse those that would stand up for the people "partisan."
America is sick, from a mental illness of racial and religious entitlement and has been from inception.

That's what elections are for, and I must say I'm disappointed in Republicans, whom I thought in the past had many valid points, but because of the "vast right wing conspiracy" including AM Radio (often overlooked), Fox News, and countless less obvious echo chambers, they've lost all credibility with me.
So while they've won in the short run, they'll lose the war, I predict. Why? Because they're wrong. Socialism and secularism are the future.

Just because the majority wants something doesn't mean it's going to happen...

@JeffMurray It doesn't mean it won't.

@Storm1752 There's a pattern forming. That's like thinking Trump will still turn his thoughts and actions around regarding Covid. He caught the shit and needed the best medical care in the world to be okay and it only made him worse. The GOP is using their power to solidify their ability to cheat and hold on to/gain more power. Thinking it's going to magically turn itself around is wishful thinking.

@JeffMurray But thinking it MIGHT is not being delusional, either.

@Storm1752 Are we taking about the same country? I'm referring to the one that's poised to take away marriage equality and reproductive rights.

@JeffMurray I didn't SAY that and you know it. I SAID I think 'they' will ultimately fail because socialism and secularism in government is the probable future because history is trending that way IN MY OPINION, and "magical thinking" (a particularly obnoxious phrase I think) has nothing to do with it.
OBVIOUSLY Trump and the Republicans aren't going to change their ways about politics, religion, or anything else. Only a moron would think that, and that's not who or what I was talking about, and before you say or ask something else, I DON'T KNOW when, who, how, etc.
WHY? Because looking at history there seems to be an upward trajectory in knowledge, science, wisdom, and sophistication, and I THINK the truth will eventually win out. If you want to call that "magical thinking" we have a strong difference of opinion.

@Storm1752 I do, only because there isn't a natural progression of those things. The US, along with many other nations, are regressing, some all the way into authoritarian governments. I'm not saying I don't want your beliefs to come true, I'm just saying I see no evidence to suggest it will. There's a group that measures democratic health of nations with the help of many of participants' input on tons of metrics. In the process of democratic nations' partial or complete downfalls into authoritarian control over the past several decades, they all followed very similar patterns. In comparing where the US is now to those other examples, only 20 percent of countries that reached this point maintained a democracy. So since I didn't mean anything by magical thinking, let me apologize and rephrase to optimistic or wishful thinking. It is very optimistic to think our democracy will survive and as optimistic as you can possibly be to think what has happened this far won't at least cause permanent damage.

@JeffMurray Study history.

@Storm1752 Cool response.

It always surprises me that the nation that touts itself as "The Land of the Free", has so much bigotry and racism in it. Far more so than in the "backward" nations it looks down upon. All countries have some, but few in such a high percentage of the population.

True.
