“A Little Bit of Logic”
Who is Donald Trump? Donald Trump is a salesman, and an entrepreneur. He is not a statesman or a politician. He knows nothing about government , but he does know how to sell.
What is a salesman? A salesman is a person who lies for a living; one whose job it is to make a maximum of profit at another’s expense. In his current position, the commodity he is selling is himself.
Entrepreneur means literally “putting between”. In his current position, Trump is putting his own personal interests between you and your expectations of an equitable symbiosis between government and society.
What is society? Society and Socialism, of course come from the same root. Society means, quite simply, “the state of living in organized groups”
Why, then, do so many people admire Trump and seem to fear the prospect of living in organized groups and achieving the benefits of living in an equitable society?
One possible reason may be that one of the most prevalent occupations of the American worker is that of marketing, or sales, and it has been said that there is no one to whom it is easier to sell, than a salesman.
What do YOU think?

I guess I have offended all of the salesmen out there, but I still believe that old platitude is accurate. "Nobody is easier to sell than a salesman".

Must be a fairly local platitude because I've never heard it before and I've been around a while.

@Cyklone I made it up! But I sill think it's true.

Not a salesman, but a showman, huckster and charlatan. He is a self-promoting vainglorious bastard whose incompetence is surpassed only by his narcissism. He lives for the sound of MAGA applause and the opportunity to catch his reflection in a mirror.

Those who admire Trump have made a pact. They've chosen to ignore all that is patently obvious--his treatment of women, blatant lies, race-bating, self-dealing, taxpayer funded nepotism, etc.--and to instead believe QAnon conspiracies about Democrats who kidnap children and Trump's own outlandish claims of his performance and being a stable genius. In this way, Trumpism is very much like a religion.

Al of the characteristics you attribute to him are consistent with the tools of a salesman, and a TV Evangelist.....(religion)

@fishline79 I have worked in sales and have friends who remain in sales and none share these attributes. IMHO, a distinction should be made between selling a product or service that has or provides value versus selling snake oil.

@p-nullifidian You can't see the forest for the trees.

@fishline79 Perhaps ... or maybe you're barking up the wrong tree? 😉

"Donald Trump is a salesman, and an entrepreneur." I think may be true to a degree, but I think that it would be a more accurate statement if you included the word 'failed'. When Trump first came to office I remember, some business annalists examined his records, and concluded that, he had earned less than bank interest, on his inheritance over his lifetime, and that he would have been bankrupted twice, if not saved by political bailouts. Politics was perhaps the only way out to avoid the humiliation of his failed business career.

There was a lady in our village who, single handedly, ran a wool and sewing shop for fifty years. She payed herself a living, and filled her pension pot, after starting from next to nothing. She was a vastly better business and sales person than trump, by those measurements, even though she was not rich. Being a spoiled rich boy who is handed a business empire, which you then wreck, does not make you a businessman.

Not all salesmen are successful.

Donald Trump is a pathetic little nobody.

I have a younger brother who is a brilliant salesman. I asked him one day how he did it and he said that you had to know your product and believe in your product. People are good at picking up on lies and if you genuinely believe what your selling is good value then people pick up on that: so your original premise is wrong.
Every profession has good and bad. As said by lerlo, there are arseholes everywhere and narcissistic psychopaths can lie very convincingly and corrupt every profession.

As I said to Fernapple, "Not all salesmen are successful." What your brother should have said was "To be a SUCCESSFUL salesman you have to know...." It sounds like you all disagree with my comment, but I stand by it. Stop nit picking!

@fishline79 If you don't like nitpicking then don't post biassed and contentious posts.

@Cyklone You salesmen sure are touchy! Could that connote remorse, or guilt? If you can't get a real job, you can always sell.

@fishline79 Not a salesman and have a real profession. 70 and still working. You self righteous trump voting prick

@Cyklone I may be a prick, but I certainly didn't vote for Trump. I don't know what I said would make you think that. Take a valium. I have opinions, just like you. If you don't agree with mine, no need to resort to insults, just tell me what is wrong with my opinion. Donald Trump is primarily a salesman. and I stick by that.

@fishline79 I agree that trump is nothing more than an unprincipled lying salesman

Guess you've had some pretty bad experiences while shopping. As usual when the initial premise is wrong the rest of it seems to fall into place. Guess we'll weep for the honest sales people. Pretty sure there are liars in every profession even yours. Yes there is no question that trump is a snake oil salesman, the ultimate liar. His supporters don't mind being in a society as long as it's their white supremacist society. You went from organized groups to equitable groups, nice jump. It's not about politics, it's about intelligence. Would be interested to find out how you came up with your definition of entrepreneur.

The dictionary defines entrepreneur as "someone who runs a business at his own financial risk" and by that definition you may be right, because Trump has made his way by using other people's money and then leaving them with the loss. However the etymological interpretation of the word is "to put between" so I was using that as a way to illustrate how somebody who would consider himself an entrepreneur is "putting himself between" you and your hopes. Tell you what, why don't you just forget what I said and accept my apology for my poorly worded analogy, or literary "word play". I'll take a zero for the day.
