The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is the Christian Right legal group founded by televangelist Pat Robertson and headed up by Jay Sekulow, who served as Donald Trump‘s personal attorney during the impeachment trial.
So in summary, the piece of land with a line drawn have rights, not the actual human beings living inside of the line...
Aaaaaand the more concentration of land, less industry, less urban life that generates the most industrial and financial power that piece of land with a line drawn on a map, more power the few that happen to live there will have...
I always thought that the way the votes are counted in the US is just absurd. Surely it is the people's votes that should be counted not on a state basis.
We began as a Federation of independent colony/states that bound together to throw-off a tyrant. Separation of powers is a theme running through our birth and history; as centralized power always becomes absolute and tyrannical.
"Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." It is the central theme of Western history. They sought to and succeeded in -for now- mitigating that trend, but tyrants never rest.
@Silver1wun "Power corrupts and and absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely" Lord Acton.
To anyone living in a democracy the electoral system in the USA is bizarre.
@Moravian Bizarre because they lack sufficient knowledge. Lacking knowledge isn't a crime. Yet, how many commit crimes and defamations because they lack knowledge or embrace myths AS facts?
@Silver1wun Well, to me it will always be one person, one vote.
Why is all that supposed to matter? Something either is or isn't; is accurate or inaccurate; is factual or not factual.
Astonishing to me how easily the mentally challenged pre-validate solely on the bases of sources; of messengers not messages. It really is primitive.
