The most famous attraction at the Salt Lake City Zoo during my youth was Shasta, the Liger. He’s now stuffed and on display.

That’s horrible. 😞

@Wildgreens Why is that horrible? He was beloved and lived a long life. Now he’s immortal for all future generations to see.

Speaking as a 30-year zoo person....ligers grow very quickly in their youth but slow down when they're around four. It's one of those urban myth things that they never stop.

Have read that they unfortunately don't live long.
Their physiology simply cannot support their huge size.
