Forget about money and time.
No obstacles are in your way.
You can do WHATEVER you want.
What job would you pick? Is it different than what you're doing now?
Emperor of Mars.
Okay, failing that, I'd like to run a university of science for the underprivileged of the world. We have a desperate need of more scientists and a practical way to give a hand up to those who are in need.
Love it.
Environmental conservationist focusing on wetland protection and restoration. It's what I'm currently studying, now I just have to find a place that is hiring...
@Ccrombie, my sister owns an environmental engineering company in CA. You might want to contact her for pointers on how to get into the field. You never know.
Thank you! I'll give it a look!
I'd be the warden of a penal colony for wayward male body builders/wrestlers on a self-sustaining, otherwise unoccupied tropical island a thousand miles from anywhere.
@Kreig Come on now. Aren't you just a little bit curious?
I’d have a program that enabled disabled people to find rocks and fossils in nature. Whether it’s a kid or parent or aunt or whatever, a trip that all can enjoy. There are so many programs for a solo person to participate, but no family programs. At least not around here. And there are so many sites you drive right up to.
I’ve really thought it out. I’d do say, three families at a time. Three vehicles. I’d have booklets made up to teach and entertain on the ride. Maybe some kind of interactive map. Where we went would depend on the type of disability our participants had. It could involve two sites. Or maybe an overnight. There are so many amazing places to go out there. Not just in Oregon. And they are free. I might pick pay spots for camping though. Some people would need certain amenities. But it’s not hard to make it happen.
I would also like to buy mobile medicine units and drive around the country doing free spay and neuter clinics. But this would be very expensive. So it’s a real dream.
Author… science fiction, fantasy, ethics…
Yes, it's different from my current line of work.
As an author, let me caution you that....
I really want to be a full time writer. Right now I'm working on getting published, but to pay the bills I do retail part time. I'd really love to be able to make a living off of writing though.
What I do now means a lot to me. If I had tons of money, I would use it to enhance what I do. I don’t have a ton of money, so I’m going through an accreditation program, which should bring more respect and eventually more pay to my profession. I’m a DSP (Direct Support Professional). There are two million of us in this country and only 300 of us are accredited.
with money, I would advance the program.
It’s a brand new program
Yesterday I was discussing an issue with the mother of one of my clients and her husband. Her husband said a few things and I respectfully disagreed with him. The mother after a minute to,d him, “Look, Josiah is a professional, he’ll figure it out.” The feels...
I wanted to be a chopper pilot in Vietnam. Crazy huh?
no not if that was your dream
This is an awesome post. I am in a trial certificate program for 911 Telecommunications Dispatcher. I have always had a huge desire to help people and have always carried jobs that have been in fields doing so. When I was a young kid I wanted to be a cop but growing up I changed to being in the medical field and did some nursing aid work and phlebotomy. I decided to go into retirement planning and entered into just direct customer service helping people over the phone so that I didn't have direct contact with people on a face to face bases on a daily. I left the workforce for several years and now that I am ready to go back I have decided that since I have always had my childhood dream of being a police officer but don't want to deal with the public directly in person even though I feel that we need more good cops on the force. I decided to enter the world of 911 Telecommunications and a second more feasible option to that goal. The course has never been offered before so I am one of the first to be taking this class to be more qualified for entry into this field of work. We are training right next to officers in the police academy. Right now I feel like I am exactly where I want to be. I am not worried about what the pay, benefits, or schedule might be.
Artist, same as now.
What did that tree ever do to you? lol
I'm an artist too but didn't put it because the question said could do not does do but yes now I think of it I love art especially helping animals with it.
@silvereyes There are some really good trees around (already dead @DJVJ311) that could possibly yield very intriguing faces. I know an artist that carves. ()
@DJVJ311 or do you mean the one I'm sitting on?
I think it's a punishment to be carved into and displayed as art when you're alive and unsettling use of a corpse afterward. Just like we aren't present after we die, I don't really consider it a "tree" after it's dead.
@DJVJ311 I'm not sure what you'd call a downed tree other than a tree. Do you live in a building? Does it have doors (maybe wood doors)? Does it not have wood trim and possible wood structure? Wood comes from cut up trees.
@AstralSmoke Corpses come from people but I don't consider them people. Logs... Wood... Lumber... My initial thought on reading @silvereyes comment was how people carve initials into trees.
I visited Pando, an ~80,000 year old aspen stand that is dying(worth the visit) and saw initials carved in it and that is what I imagine. Strikes me as wrong on some level. I am not opposed to logging and lumber, but carving into living trees strikes a nerve. I am not really sure what the source of my annoyance is/was, but looking at definitely annoyed me. It seems so narcissistic.
@DJVJ311 I look at trees as living things, which they are, until they die. But they're still a tree, just like a dead human is still a human. I understand and agree with you about carving on living trees or even something like graffiti on rocks, but it could also be considered wasteful to let a beautiful log just rote. I believe we agree on at least half the story, so that's a good start.
Yeah, I think we're all on the same page. I as just treating this as fun wordplay.
I'm presently retired. IF I could go back and change things, I'd like to be a psychoanalyst.
Head of the UN,
So I could say right now let's stop fcuking about and do some good. Let us start thinking about the next generation and stop fooling ourselves that we have done a good job.
I would get many of those inspirational children who have come through times so hard we cannot imagine to talk and let us see what fresh ideas our young have.Millions of unemployed in countries that have no running water, no eleectric, get these people working on massive pipelines that take sea water to solar powered de-salination plants.
Instal solar powered generators to supply electric and to finance this? Get rid of the toothless UN Army.
Ok so you did not tell me dreams were not allowed.
When I was younger I wanted to be an Astronaut. When I found out that I would only be going to the Moon/Mars (maybe), I decided not to. I wanted to go out into the farthest reaches of space, not just to Mars/Moon.
When they put out offers to go to Mars, I wanted so much to jump at it. Though it was a one way ticket, being a part of history excited me. Unfortunately I am now too old and have too many health issues to even be considered.
I would happily just for food and a few clothes go and help with elephants in India if that's a job. dump all the tec too. porn star would be good if I wasn't hung like a hamster. divemaster on the great barrier reef. special effects artist etc on films maybe.
you think it's funny being a divemaster lol
I would love to have elite basketball skills and play in the NBA... But I really suck at basketball. Like really bad. Or maybe I would be an astronaut.
