LINK Missouri Lawmakers Consider Bill to Regulate Abuse-Heavy Christians Schools | Hemant Mehta | Friendly Atheist | Patheos

(just close down (private/religious) schools that abuse kids)

Back in September, I posted about an unlicensed Christian boarding school for girls in Missouri that was making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Physical and sexual abuse ran rampant there, and the place was forced to shut down.

This isn’t a unique situation in Missouri. That’s largely because the state is one of only two in the country (along with South Carolina) where faith-based schools are exempt from licensing requirements, allowing them to ignore any regulations.

Not to mention that’s it’s a Bible Belt state.

And these are the same lowlives who consider themselves spokespeople for “Family Values”

Close them down. Why do we need Christian boarding schools?

Religious teaching is a form of abuse. Why wait for just (!) physical and sexual abuse?

Most of them would be closed pronto if that happened. I cannot wait.
