"Conversion Therapy" is like "Military Intelligence" or "Jumbo Shrimp" but worse as it doesn't exist and can't work while there's at least some rationale behind the concepts I compared it too.
It's the modern equivalent of dowsing or horoscopes but worse.
Imagine a "Conversion Therapy" for people that want to be "gay" and no longer "straight", sure you wouldn't get any takers and if people are coerced it will not work. Sure some self loathing gays (invariably raised religious) volunteer, but even they're being coerced by a religion they didn't choose.
Why not have a "Species Therapy" to fix the sad fact that we're delusional primates that have no power over our psychology once we get down to honest biology.
We're a species of control freaks that have less control over ourselves than we can accept and no power whatsoever to control others even if closely related by genetics.
What helpless, clueless beings we are.
The only way to solve the dilemma if it's that bad for you is to accept people as is, and that includes yourself. Some of us can at least get that far, and that's about as good as it gets.
