Desperation is the Mother of Invention.

Yesterday in one hundred seventeen degree heat, my flowers wilted even when shaded with a white flannel sheet. The clay pots were hot on the south-facing deck. Revived the plants with watering and ice cubes atop the soil. Also cut back yellow flowers that wilted.

Had a brainwave while hiking this morning. Use my car windshield reflector to reflect sun away from the pots! Windshield reflectors are sold out in the Pacific Northwest due to the heatwave. Today's high is one hundred thirteen. Fingers crossed.
