Or it could just have been used as a rubbing paste, which is a common mason's tech to this day.

This is a story from some people who have absolutely no idea what a mason does. They used the same technology everyone else uses to do this kind of work. No CNC, no aliens, no advanced technology. All they needed was other rocks, a stick that is long and time. They also had to know how to put the stones together giving the pattern shown.

What tools were used?

@FrayedBear I do not know what technology they had, but the least one could use is another harder rock.

@dalefvictor the implication in the video seemed to me that they didn't have harder.
