Whether or not it was a False Flag operation, why would Ukraine claim it? And why would Russia admit it had been successfully attacked?

There are many forms of subversion. Unfortunately, "false flag" is the only one most people know.

I was afraid that might be the case. If it is a false flag, we must expect Putin to escalate either with gas or fuel-air explosives. (Or nukes.)
