A intelligent system creating equality between corporations and people.
I note however that medical cover tax is fairly high for a national scheme.
Nope, this country thinks it is run by politicians but mostly it's run by corporations.
The bigger question/issue is, how are their elections run? Who actually writes legislation?
America's economy was always based on cheap labor and special interest having the most control.
They have one of the largest oil reserves in the world for a country of 5 million people.
Why should that result in anything but fair share to the citizens. Why is fair share an unknown concept in America. What always amazes me is the fact that people who have nothing accept that others are entitled to 99% or even 100% of the booty!
@FrayedBear When you have tremendous natural resources per capita, you are essentially receiving "money for nothing", and it's easy to provide generous benefits for every citizen. That's not the case in the United States. If you look at our tremendous sources of wealth:
Microsoft: started by Bill Gates
Apple: started by Steve Jobs
Amazon: stared by Jeff Bezos
Facebook: started by Mark Zuckerberg
Tesla: started by Elon Musk
The wealth came from an individual who risked his own money and time to create a corporation that dominated the global markets. That's a good thing. Each one of those men created thousands of high-paying jobs and thousands of millionaire investors. We want those corporations to be started and based in the USA. If we raise taxes to ridiculous levels, those companies will be started in other countries, and the high-paying jobs will go to citizens of other countries.
That’s why everyone walks there and there is no ability for self sustainability. Their property cost is so high that few can own a home and rent is through the roof.
Their citizens are reliant on the government and will die in a national emergency.
@EarnestEccentric You haven’t spent much time in Norway have you?
Home ownership in Norway is 80% Some decline in recent years, but that fits a global pattern.
In America it's 64.2%
You want to boast about low rents in America now too? Good luck with that.
In Norway, the average household net wealth is estimated at USD 268, 358.
The average American's net worth: $121,760
Any more American bragging in you?
@CourtJester and you have spent time in Norway, clownboy?
@David1955
I have
@CourtJester well clearly you didn't learn anything except how to reinforce your prejudice against the dreaded socialism.
@David1955
I’ve never seen it produce anything positive for any society. It’s not prejudice as much as it is beliefs learned from visual experiences.
It only works really well in the places that the supporters haven’t traveled to and spent several weeks at. Crazy how that works.
China’s a beautiful country until you’ve been there.
The Netherlands is beautiful but there are so many bikes because the government financially molests anyone that wants to own a house or car.
Italy is much the same.
The last picture is souther Alabama. It’s tough to beat southern Alabama.
@CourtJester China is an authoritarian communist country. I have been there. I doubt your comments about the Netherlands and Italy are any more accurate than your comments about Norway. Have you any capacity to distinguish between social- democratic countries as in Europe and Scandinavia, based on a mixed economy and appropriate regulation and taxation and social contract, AND authoritarian communist countries based on state monopolies and repression? Really? Ever tried studying political science and philosophy, instead of just walking around with a whole jumbled ignorant prejudiced anti 'socialist' narrative playing out in your head, misreading everything -- like your comments on Norway ? As Morpheus might say, 'free your mind '.
@CourtJester ffs why do you have such innate determination to not accept that you live in a fucked dead society hell bent on its own & possibly world destruction. Have you compared your country's performance lately against that of China? Why do you really think that the US is hellbent on destroying Russia through crap propaganda, indoctrination & funding of Ukrainian fascist to undertake a proxy war against Russia. Could it be they fear what is happening there is of greater benefit to the citizens than is your madness?
You must be taking some powerful dope.
What do you reckon @David1955?
I have zero desire for a socialist anything of any kind.
I strongly prefer our representative republic where those that put in the effort reap the greatest reward. A place where if someone breaks into your house at 2:00am, we can shoot them in the face and sue their parents to pay for the clean up. A place where those that put in little to no effort get the crap life that they have earned. I paid for the college classes that the Government didn’t cover after my years in the Marines. I shouldn’t pay higher taxes so that someone else can go to college for a degree in gender studies or lesbian dance theory. If they want to go, they can go, but my taxes should t cover it.
That’s all I have considered after spending time in multiple other countries.
@CourtJester that's a very good description of modern toxic reactionary conservatism: 'It's all about me and screw everybody else." Cut through the pretend ideology, it's nothing more than selfish self-centered self-absorbed self-interest. As you say, that's all you've learnt from your travels. Certainly no understanding of the nuances of political systems or ideologies. And if your kid broke into a house and got shot in the face, you'd scream bloody murder before you'd pay a cent to clean it up, I'd bet. Big tough talkers like you are always like that.
Study some political science. Do yourself a favour, and give us a break.
So why should I pay for others on welfare that don’t want to do better???
@David1955 what percentage of other people’s money are you entitled to?
