Bullshit culture war issues to distract people from seeing how the Repubs won't do anything about guns, and also about how they only care about the rich and corporations, altho Dems do the same thing with all the identity politics to distract from how they too only care about the rich and corporations. It's Kabuki theater and pro wrestling between the major parties, all pretend fake fighting...

There is some truth to what you say, but it's not ALL theater.

One problem with the Dems (there are many) is they tend to go overboard in their reactions. A prime example is the "defund the police" rhetoric. It's silly nonsense and it only serves to give ammunition to the other side.

@Flyingsaucesir True, the Dems are often spectacular failures when it comes to messaging. I think that's because the Repubs have deeper pockets, so they end up hiring the better PR folks, such as Frank Lutz...

@TomMcGiverin I think messaging is easier for them because they are more unified around a few central ideological concepts, especially the "immigrants are bad" trope.

@Flyingsaucesir It is easier for them, they unite around being rich, white, Christian or Catholic, and hating everyone who is different from them: Immigrants, colored people, non-Christians, and queer people, as well as poor people. That's a pretty small tent and easy to unite.
