National Archives releases thousands of JFK assassination documents
Daniel Sheehan provides a gripping review of the issues surrounding JFK's assassination. (maybe start at the 48 minute mark)
And a similar article:
In a way, it is reminiscent of Caesar's murder where everyone was involved to prevent anyone from suffering consequences. (Everyone being the Republicans, Deep State, CIA, and FBI. Notably, the hit team was developed by Nixon with the help of Howard Hughs. HW Bush at CIA sanctioned it along with Howard Hunt. Not that we'll ever know for sure.)
Long time ago and already consumed entirely too much of my time. I no longer care who killed him. We probably wouldn't have had The Great Society without his death so maybe it worked out?
He also planned to withdraw from Viet Nam and to dismantle nukes in both countries...
I recall my parents discussing that fateful night. We had tickets to see Victor Borge and they thought that we might not live through the performance. Per Sheehan, we were one depth charge away from WWIII.
Daniel Sheehan does a good job here. I came in at the 48 minute mark and followed it through. JFK was murdered when I was in high school and this has bothered me all my life. I studied it for 20 years and it involved lots of books. Some facts and some written only to make money. As for Nixon's remarks on the check and Watergate, I always heard he said "this will un-do the whole Bay of Pigs thing." Back when I was in high school everyone was worried that Kennedy would do what the Pope said. From the presentation here by Sheehan the right was certainly scared to death because that was how it looked. I recall a JFK speech where he said of Russians and a world without nukes that "we all breathe the same air." Again, this would drive the right totally nuts.
