Imminent Revolutionary Devolution

Personally, I observe the onrushing collapse of civilization with great interest but disappointed dispassion. It is what is is. Or what we made it. Among other things, it's also the greatest show on earth, for us to wonder at and grow wise at such price. What's your take on this?

I am not one of the apocalypse people but, at this point things do seem insurmountable. If not for my generation certainly for future generations. We simply cannot keep going the way we are without a lot of misery, suffering and possible extinction. Mother Nature cares not a tiny whiff over those who refuse to obey her rules and we are doing just that. We think our technology will save us but it is digging the hole deeper and deeper. Our expanding population will be the end of us. We never had nuclear weapons and climate change before and these things will only get worse unless we change our course. To me events of the past are just warning shots across the bow.

I think about those who are not financially secure and who may suffer poverty, homelessness and starvation - whilst the better off on the outside watch the collapse with interest.

It does look grim, but I wouldn't start humming a funeral march just yet. Circumstances looked very grim many times in the past - some very recently - and civilization survived. It's only entertainment if all you do is watch. I'm a big fan of collective action and I honestly think rationality can triumph. I am trying to do my part, and it's not just me.

We'll get what we deserve. If we ignore the ambitions of soulless, callous, cruel, selfish, money grabbing psychopathic individuals who manipulate and corrupt members of government institutions then that will be the nature of the society we will help to create. Either socialism or barbarity - your choice.

I'm in agreement. We are witnessing the beginning of the End.
I doubt, however, that it will occur in our lifetimes.
The fall of civilizations takes a minute. We're only at the start of ours.

Civilisations ebb and flow all the time ! You might not even be here when this one collapses, so stop worrying and enjoy the life you have !

Well if the coping skills of most people are similar to people in my area, I'm guessing 80% of them would be dead in the first week without tech. Honestly, I'm constantly astounded that some people manage not to kill themselves by sheer idiocy.

I like and agree with your assessment.
