I saw my first butterfly of 2018 on Saturday. This is the Eastern comma butterfly (Polygonia comma).

I like the way they imitate a dry leaf when the wings are folded and orange and black when open.

now that is something totally new to me, @Insectra! hibernating butterflies - i never knew that's an option for these fragile beings.
Pretty. Don't think I've ever seen one of those.
