I remember those nasty bastards from 50+ years ago when up in Ross & Cromerty camping.
@FrayedBear yes, I booked a place with a lake and boats. No way we were going out with those horrors about. Catnip may be my friend 
@girlwithsmiles Peat & freshly cut peat or dug ditches seems to be favoured by them. In Donegal we all sat anarak hoods up watching them suicide onto the YHA kithen table from the newly installed electricity & 40 watt lightbulb (the only one in the building). No running water & a drop pit toilet.
