And on that subject: I know I posted this a couple years ago but IMO is worth repeating: When I adopted my calico Nala she had been spayed but continued to become in-heat. I called the vet who spayed her for the shelter and he insisted they removed everything necessary...how would he know he missed any without looking? Anyway I finally took her to my cats' vet and they decided to do exploratory surgery to see that all her ovaries were removed. Surprise!!! They found some small pieces near her kidneys - removed them and she was never in heat again. I felt do sorry for Nala having to go through that twice, which is probably why I give her a bit more attention than Leo and Pixie.

@Ray13 Yes, poor girl. We've been lucky with our girls, but one of our neutered boys still tried mounting the girls all the time, & I read somewhere that it was a territorial thing.

If I was that cat I think I'd look pissed too.
