I grew up with dogs and cats and a few other things, but have always felt more in tune with cats. As an adult, I have had two dogs, both of whom came from siblings that couldn't care for them. The first one I wound up resenting because I was working and she kept me so chained to a schedule. I could never, ever do anything after work except run home and let the dog out, for fourteen years. With the current dog, it is easier since I am retired. He is a good buddy, especially when I am working outside. I never felt I could abandon my pets, living with what they were, even my current pee kitty.

Cats are cats. Dogs are dogs. Different animals that merit no comparison. Each brings different positives & negatives. Each have a place in my heart, my home, my world. Have had both my whole life save one year when the landlord said No. Then he said yes & changed his mind on responsible pet ownership. Forgive me. I am always out there trying to change the world. It is a very challenging endeavor. If the world would just do as I say all would be well.

Cats are an easier pet than dogs. I don't have time for a dog, my cat's don't "need" me and are OK alone most of the day.

Same here, but I've never owned a dog. They are OK, but I seem to "identify" more with a cat.
