I have a kind hearted friend that lives in the central Pennsylvania country near me. His wife and he have taken in more than forty cats, and they are feeding them in their house and yard. Some are feral, but many are very tame. They are trying to have them all spayed and neutered, but it is difficult keeping track since new ones keep showing up.
Does anyone know of an organization that might offer help, or if anyone wants to adopt one or more just send me a note, please.
Thanks,
Phil
If they can partner with a state or local animal rescue they might be able to get a vet discount. That’s still very expensive but hooking up with a cat group can make a difference.
Thank you for the suggestion. They told me that they tried asking around locally and nobody could come up with a plan. The couple own a local pizza shop and at least they have enough money to keep going at their pace they've set.
I don't specifically know any in that area, but the traditional ones to look into are: SPCA, HSHA, and there's apparently one there called the CPAA. I can't testify for either of the latter two, but the SPCA has always been good to me, but they're most often for surrendering our catch-and-releases. They usually take care of it, but then release them back into the wild, especially if feral.
We have a local SPCA who do help a little bit , but they are underfunded and pretty crowded themselves. The couple have been doing it on their own for a couple of years now. I just thought they might need help before they get burned out and tired of the idea.
@PolyWolf . True, the central area in this state only has a few cities and most are run down ex-coal mining towns. I live here because of the very low cost of living and I could buy a big house for a low price. The bad part is local governments of these towns don't have any budgets for the small things.
Thank you for your input and the nice compliment.
I live nowhere near. The only thing I can think of is a FB group called assholecats that has so many members that if a question is asked, someone always pipes up with a suggestion. I remember someone posting a big list on there of organizations that help to get feral cats spayed and neutered.
