I had to put down my 17 year old kitty on Christmas Eve. Now, the house is so quiet and empty. I find myself crying over the oddest things.

The sadness never truly goes away does it? For me it eventually seems to change into a feeling of bittersweetness; the happiness that the kitty gave me combined with the grief. Take care please.

Hugs. I did the same over Thanksgiving. I was also lucky to find 2 siblings at the humane society shelter. One of them reached out from her cage and caught me.

You are grieving your fur child's passing. It is normal, it is healthy. It will pass. You will remember him or her forever. You made a hard decision. be gentle with yourself.

i am awfully sorry. all my cats are elderly and one is looking quite skeletal (at age 15 and a half). i've lost so many... and it never stops hurting but it does get easier to remember the good times. you have my total sympathy.

It is hard. Three years ago, the best kitty I ever had gave up one of her nine lives. It was painful. But cats come back - they do have nine lives!
