So these are my purr-kids, Sybylla, with the crystal blue eyes, and Enzo, king of all he surveys. Up to 4 mos ago both were always healthy & vibrant, but I am suddenly hurled into a new reality. Two months ago I was at the vet with Enzo (11) due to weight loss and lethargy, finding him to be hyperthyroid. 2 pills daily, and he is slowly improving. Within just 3 weeks, ever chubby Sybylla (12) has eaten less daily and lost weight dramatically. Just back from the vet, finding an abdominal mass, most likely lymphoma. Feline steroid may shrink that to allow her to eat more easily. Anyone else with experience in these two areas?

Unfortunately I had a rare situation in which my cat developed liver failure, possibly from the treatment. As long as his meds are properly monitored, you should be ok. As long as he is hyper or normal thyroid, you shouldn't have any difficulty with Enzo eating enough.
I have had various cats with different cancers over the years. Each situation was different. Just feed Sybylla whatever she wants. I wish the best for you and your kitties.

Thank you, and I do have a great vet who is monitoring carefully. His initial labs on T4 were 9.7, on a normal range of 0.8-4.0. She started cautiously then increased the Methimazole when he wasn't improving. 8 weeks in now, finally seeing significant improvements!
Oh, goodness. I'm so sorry - it's so hard with fur kids, because they can't tell you anything and you can't explain anything to them. I'm so glad they have such a good mom - I wish you all the best.

Nope , thank goodness . It's taken me awhile to figure out which flavors , textures , etc, they prefer in the way of cat food . He likes the dry stuff I found . She likes wet canned - Savory Sea Food bake , Chunky Salmon , and Chicken and Tuna with Cheese . If I get the pate' or the kind without the cheese , they eat about half as much .

Yes, and food has suddenly become an issue, also! After some experimenting (did you know switching to grain-free makes for very stinky poos??) I have been making my own for them, now with a freezer full of chicken/rice/vege mash, diced roasted chicken, liver and heart cubes. As soon as I find something they like, they change their minds, aaarrrrrhhhh!!
THANK YOU for mentioning the foods with cheese! My cats have always preferred fish combos, so I just didn't look there. Got the Turkey with Cheese last night and they gobbled it!
