If both are well fed - it seems to happen quite a bit more than we notice in the animal world.

My Mom had a large black tom cat that would play with a chipmunk on a daily basis when she was growing up. You'd think it would have ended up dead - but no - they were definitely engaged in play.

I've seen videos of this same cat and fox on Utube before. They're good friends and like to play together. Look for other videos under "Friendly Fox".
