Ok, I'm going to need this to be the standard. I worked for 4+ years at Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola and it really woke me up to the injustice system.

Everytime a case is overturned due to either police or prosecutor misconduct, there needs to be an outside special prosecutor to present to the grand jury and trial court. The police and DAs are in bed together too much for there not to be a conflict of interest.

In my opinion, two things really need to happen. Bad Cops and DAs MUST BE held accountable when they commit crimes; AND they should have to carry malpractice insurance-- or all settlements should come from the police unions and/or retirement funds. Perhaps doing this would help clean up the cancer that is so widespread in law enforcement and the justice system that all too often just wants a body to convict rather than the truth.

Absolutely!!! I'm glad there are progressive DAS like the one in this story popping up around the country. We had one elected in New Orleans in November who is turning some things around, starting with clearing the cases from his parish of people who were convicted by non unanimous juries. Now if we could get the rest of the state's DAS do follow suit.
