It is hard to say anything good about the communist Chinese, especially under Mao. That said, Tibet was pretty much a three tiered system: some rich/and monks; a few merchants, free people; serfs, or slaves.
One could look at Cuba and the first Cuban refugees from 1959. They were the upper and middle classes with ties to the crooked Bautista regime - which is why Castro succeeded in becoming so popular there.
