I had student friends from Chile at the time, a Gf lost her Dad, 2 brothers and an uncle in the soccer stadium...it was ochestrated by Henry Kissenger, Hillary Clinton's mentor on International policy..
@Charlene Here in Canada there are many refugees and now their families as well from Chile, most have a deep seated hatred of the US and its foreign policies. Most were well educated professionals, humanists and many were atheists all lost many friends and family to the right wing death squads, army and police. Many were totured, some by Americans agents. Some were not even supporters of the leftist government at the time but as Canadians I have never met one that is not now a strong supporter of the Left.
