This is how it works: guy wearing a military veteran's hat gets, "Thank you for your service." (Not that there is anything wrong with that, I'm a vet, too, no hats) A homeless vet - people avert their eyes or say, "Get a job, bum." That attitude comes right from the top: about war and PTSD, "Some people just can't handle it." "I like people who weren't captured."
