Economics is the study of costs and benefits. What are the costs? Social costs? Environmental costs? And who gets the benefits? Infrastructure? Tax breaks? Welfare? Medicare (I am Canadian)? Economics is a can of worms.
That is like trying to define chemistry or physics in one sentence. It WAY over simplifies what it is or covers. just because it is hard to understand doesn't mean that it is meaningless. Because it is a dynamic science, it difficult for even the best economists to agree on all facets.
I used to know a little bit of chemistry. Can I define it in 1 sentence? Let me try. CHEMISTRY is an exploration of the exchange of energy between things. Is that a good staring point?
