A few nights ago I was watching PBS. The program was about a newly created "white" coating that actually lowered the ambient temperature. Ordinary white paint absorbs some of the suns heat.

Thanks for that artcle. Now if there could just be a coating, or paint, for cars that acted like a solar panel. Now the electricity to charge the elecric car batteries comes from some generating stations that emit polutatnts.
@MsKathleen If Tesla was alive, the idea would probably already be in place.
A while back I was reading a book about mitigation of climate change. The book mentioned a chemical that could turn all the blacktop roads and parking lots white to reflect the heat and keep the surface cool. I wonder why they don't use this to mitigate climate change. Is it the cost?

Good question; so I googled it;
@Robecology Yes it would be very helpful if we could paint every roof white. My own roof is very dark....it was this way when I bought the house. When I need a new roof I will get light shingles.
