I think that I have always been an introvert, but just didn't know the term until maybe 10 years ago.

No argument from me.

My 16 year old son and I were discussing our mutual tendencies towards introversion just last night. At the end of the conversation I light heartedly exclaimed "What have I done?" to which he responded: Yes, you're a horrible mother. You taught us (he has an equally introverted older brother) to be independent, capable kids who don't need to rely on other's company to validate our self worth. You've probably scarred us for life.
Did I mention he's a smart ass? ?

Do you have to come?
Do you want to go somewhere else?
Why couldn't you just leave me alone!?
