Our labyrinth garden. One reason I can’t seem to find time for my own private gardens is a lot of time is spent here. [whispersofnatureherbs.com] (scroll down to video). When we first started visiting this island we saw the layout and thought these people are crazy. Little did we know we would soon join them? I have been working on this place for 10 years. I asked a local friend if she knew someone who could do an updated drone video of the garden and it happened. This has been posted to FB and I noted several other great videos from this woman. I planted 2 Pomegranates (one fruiting, yes they do grow here, and one ornamental) in memory of my late partner and some of her ashes are in one. Remember, this is still spring and lots of plants are still growing and yet to flower. Also a good 1/3 is missing – personal gardens, goat habitat, pond, very large group greenhouse and a few more items. One of the owners is an army engineer and his wife told me he literally dreams projects. He always talks me into helping. He was a sergeant and I a specialist and we call each other by our rank (except I keep getting demoted to Pvt.). It’s been posted to FB and has been getting a lot of hits.

Well no wonder. Perhaps you are a horticultural monogamist? I know I am. I enjoy meeting many gardens and some I visit regularly, but I only make one garden. Physically I could not do much more. This goes on the bucket list.

Fall before last we drove home from Vancouver where I saw many gardens but none more memorable than the Van Dusen. We devoted a long day to gardens in Victoria. In Washington we stayed on Bainbridge Island where we visited a number of nurseries and gardens with Heronswood and Windcliff being the biggest highlights, well along with the AirBnB we stayed in. We visited the garden of another textile artist/prof (my wife, not me, being the other one) in Snowhomish and had lunch with her in a garden much older than mine with a lovely old man and his friend. In Seattle itself we mostly just gallery hopped, walked around and ate out. Good stuff in Oregon too around Portland, Lake Oswego, Silverton and Ashland. From there we headed home. So I'm keen to get back that way and will try to arrange a stop there. Thanks for the link! If/when it happens I'll see if you're free.

I see a visit would make more sense in connection with Victoria, CA than Bainbridge. Nice location!

Sounds like you've been around the area a lot.
Of course Victoria is famous for the Butchart Garden but it's nice to see there are others. Perhaps, they're better in that they're not so touoisty. We've been to Heronswood and I have heard of the others. There are lots of great gardens in Seattle and the arboretum is one of the best. My favorite is the Kubota Garden. It was created by a Japanese man who got interred in a camp during the war. It has an interesting history. [kubotagarden.org]

Love the video!! I've never walked a labyrinth before. I will have to look into this.

Careful, too much enthusiasm can mean volunteer work.

@JackPedigo Hey, I’m always up to volunteer!!😉

@Redheadedgammy Good. You could be one of our 'labyrinth fairies.'

@Redheadedgammy Labyrinth fairies is what we call our volunteers - like me.
