I used to plant marigolds with my tomatoes, just decided it wasn't necessary any more. I plant catnip on my deck, mostly because my kitties love it. I plant basil in a planter on the deck to keep it away from the damn bunnies. I love basil to make pesto. I once planted some other mint in a flower bed, I am still pulling that stuff up years later.
