LINK Bradford pear trees are banned in a few states. More are looking to replace, eradicate them.

Planted one in error. Mislabeled & cheap remainder of the spring rush at the nursery. It is coming down this spring.

I am having a problem with this article.
My state plants them along highways. There are several just beyond my back fence, which adjoins a 4-lane, and many more in that row beyond my property, maybe 2-3 dozen.
They have No aroma of any kind, they are planted about every 25/30 feet overhanging sidewalks where I frequently walk my dog, I think I would notice......
There are No suckers or invaders in my yard and the trees have been there at least 12 years now....very pretty in the Spring.

Do you think there may be different varieties? Mine didn't send out a lot of suckers either and certainly nothing like my Redbud has. I think I'm responsible for a dozen of those in neighbor's yards up and down my alley.

Wow. The Bradfords are rather prominent here because builders favor how quickly they grow and I confess I find them pretty when blooming. One had been planted on the narrow side of my house and eventually split onto my neighbor's roof so out it came.

They remind me very much of our blackthorn, Prunus spinosa, though they are only distantly related presumably.
