Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Until I was an adult, I did not know that ladybugs bit people--and though the bite is small, it hurts! However, the good they do far outweighs one bite in my 71 years.

In Texas, I always had issues with aphids, and would purchase Ladybugs at a local garden center.
They told me to put the Ladybugs on the base of the infected plants in the evening after Temps cooled down.
It works! The next day I saw those lovely Ladybugs all over the plants eating away on those aphids.

They are commonly known as ladybugs in North America and ladybirds in the United Kingdom; "lady" refers to mother Mary. Entomologists use the names ladybird beetles or lady beetles to avoid confusion with true bugs. The more than 6,000 described species have a global distribution and are found in a variety of habitats.
