The plant is generally quite dramatic.

Are the flowers edible?

@Sheannutt Hmm ... Wikipedia says not once the flower has bloomed although it's not poisonous.

Post this beauty on the Hot Climate and Tropical Plant site. They'll get a huge kick out of it

Judging by the lopped off stalks around the flower I would say that most of those artichokes were eaten by the gardener, I know mine will be.

Wow! I grow their smaller cousins, Kardoons, as annuals and they are very attractive (and tasty) too

Very nice, and the plants are an attractive shape too, very sculptural.

Correct, along with Centaurea, Echinops and others in that tribe of Asteraceae

I know but they are also delicious before they bloom so I ate 3 of mine tonight, just a little butter for seasoning. Incredibly tasty.

My absolute favorite veggie of all time, with just a little lemon or garlic butter for dipping
YUM!

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
