Its not just the US, I wish that we could get more of that here in the UK.

Great article, thanks for sharing it! My new home is on 2.1 acres; it is mostly wooded, but I have a large area that will end up being 'planted' with some raised beds and in the spring with crops! I will have to enclose/fence the area, as there are deer all around and within my property, and I'm not wanting to share whatever I grow. I absolutely love growing some of the food (or ornamental items) that I eat!

Thanks for this. I forwarded the link to my daughter in law who's gung-ho enthusiastic about "farming" her new 2 acre property.

@Allamanda Serious? You have no idea. She dragged me to an Aquaponics class (raising fish and plants using the same water) - she's already logged the dozens of fruit trees on the property and built at least 500 Sq ft of raised beds....she's fanatical....gotta love her efforts!

@Allamanda I'm not sure where you got the idea she or he is from Quebec....this is in south/central Florida.

I know in Austin there has been a discussion of banning grass lawns in the front yard. When I lived in Taos, NM, I family who owned a car dealership had a front lawn and a large one at that. Everyone else just let it be what it was or had a landscape design of rocks and native plants.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
