Finally put in two rain barrels this past summer. Felt great to be able to use rain water. Between that and using compost, I'm hoping to see increased productivity in the garden beds.

I always notice how rainfall is preferred by plants to piped water.

I have 2 rainharvesting tanks and a 500 gallon rain tank for the garden. Having a fine mesh on the inlet and all the outlets going directly into a underground storm drain keeps out mosquitoes. One real problem is open water in the house. Watering cans, and even some unused drains (fruit flies can propagate in the P traps) have to be dealt with.

Cool! I have been thinking about doing that. I don't even have roof gutters at this point.

Someone must have figured out by now how to curb misquotoes. How about putting a few cheap gold fish in the barrel?

I got sealed 55 gal containers that were originally used for coke syrup. No open water. Just have to get on the kids to not drink or play in it too much.

Good for you. Just remember that mosquito larvae breed in standing water..

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
