one of the herbs I got was dill!

@Byrd @leafhead. I checked the range of the Eastern swallowtail before I sent my above reply. Unfortunately, it looks like the black swallowtail is not present in Washington state. However, there may be others that are present that use herbs as host plants.

Leafhead and I are members of a group called "Monarch Butterflies and Other Pollinators." Monarchs are native to every state. We would love to have you join our group. Most of the other members have never raised monarchs, and are learning the process.

I think the Anise Swallowtail visits your range and eats Fennell and Dill

I have medium sized pots 4 now. about a foot deep at most. we aren't allowed 2 plant anything that spreads or takes over, like mint or squash. well I could probably sneak some mint in if I kept it in a pot, but the apartment manager would notice a big old squash vine, I will b getting some tomato starts soon tho

I had no idea they were perennials, and they do good in pots... score! I love asparagus, thank you

@Byrd A back field of Dad's property had them growing from a previous owner . They do best if you break/cut them off regularly . I planted some this year . They sprouted , I broke them off . More sprouts popped up . They are very fine at this point , with a feathery top , but will get thicker , if I continue to snap them off . Probibly won't get to edible size this year ,
