A sure sign of spring in my neighborhood in central Illinois.

Several years ago, I bought a metal birdcage at a junk store, and hung it on our front porch is a decoration. The next spring and every spring thereafter house finches have used the birdcage for nesting at least once each spring. These are a couple of pictures I took today

That is awesome. I have a old motorcycle helmet in my pole barn that they use every year. I eat at the eggs and chicks every day to watch the progress.

@donto101, @frayedbear House Finches?

@PappyOnWings they are Finches what kind I cave no clue

@Donto101 House finches are about the size of a house sparrow, and look a lot like them except that the males have a red head

@PappyOnWings no redheads

@PappyOnWings I looked it up it is a house finch I was just mainly seeing the male that’s why I didn’t see the redhead. Lol

@PappyOnWings I once kept two zebra finches in a cage in the loinge. Their seed attracted mice and they eventually died from mosquito bites causing their feet to fall off of after decaying. After that I simply refused to ever cage a bird again.

Great idea. I hope that the door is welded open.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
