One of my "lazy" Gardening ideas that actually worked! Cat-proof method of starting plants indoors in "their" garden window:
Jumbo size peanut-butter plastic jars. No, I didn't eat all that peanut-butter. My good neighbor is a fireman and recycled these for me from the firehouse. I guess the guys like their peanut-butter.
I've used this method successfully to start tomatoes, peppers, Calla lilies, and herbs. These examples are the next crop of basil we'll plant when the leaves reach the top of the inside of the jar. The jars act as small hothouses. Never need watering after the initial soaking. And the cats leave them alone. Our window holds 24 of these, plus two 12+pound cats.
I heard that is how many pot plants get started, increases humidity and temperature.
