The Torah and even gentle, meek Jesus say things just as deadly. It's just that fewer Jews and Westerners take it all that seriously.
All religion, with the possible exception of Jainism, contains within its tenets the possibility for violence by true believers.

That is why I deliberately added the "too" at the end of my header. Religion almost inevitably fosters an 'us vs them' mentality, with the added factor of divine blessing on top of that. Bound to cause division & hate.
Why should it be any more peaceful than the Jewish and Christian religions it is based on?
