Not so much as you might think.... Heinlein wrote the book "Space Cadet" which was published in 1948 and in Chapter one two boys meet at the induction center when Matt's phone rings he takes it from his pocket and talks with his mother. His new friend Tex tells him he outsmarted his parents by packing his phone in his suitcase....
