Not funny, IMO. I feel sorry for the young couple trying to create a life of significance for themselves β€” which every indication suggests would be of far greater benefit to mankind than cutting ribbons and kissing babies.

I have to agree.
I also think the furor over Harry and Meghan's announcement is completely
orchestrated as a deflection from Andrew's scandal and connection to sex-
trafficker and pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein (who did not kill himself).

Harry has said for years that he wanted out of the "family business".
He was saying that long before ever meeting Meghan Markle.
This has fuckall to do with her being some sort of "gold-digger", and everything to do with Harry wanting to protect both her and their son from a system that treated his mother like shit, and the British tabloid media which he believed killed her.
Not to mention, the abject racism that his wife has been subjected to since
their relationship was made public.
Meghan has been demonized, completely unjustly.

Harry would have happily remained in the military if his continued presence
didn't constitute a real danger for his fellow service men and women.
As soon as the media reported where he was deployed, he became a HUGE
target. He left the military to remove the unnecessary danger to his comrades.

Andrew is the one bringing scandal and disrespect to the monarchy.
The palace is directing attention away from Andrew, and squarely at
Harry and Meghan. I'm absolutely appalled that people don't see that.

I know, it's clear I'm far too interested in this subject.
I have my reasons.

In reply to both comments above. Firstly I'm of the opinion that nothing is off limits when it comes to humour. Secondly I am a republican (NB NOT talking about a USA political party), I'm anti-monarchist and I will happily poke fun of this outdated, undemocratic institution at any opportunity. At every turn they shoot themselves in the foot by their own behaviour and still they persist as head of state in my country. They are walking paradies. Their presence in the media, along with your own 'royals' the Kardashians is offensive. Famous for doing nothing and as KK says, a distraction from real news. To be frank, neither of you are responsible for the cost of keeping these parasites. ''Off with their heads" I say. (that last bit was irony, if you didn't realise).

@MsDemeanour I'd have NO problem with someone decapitating all of the Kardashians. They are NOT any kind of "royalty" in this country. The majority of people see them as absurd. They are only popular because they learned how to manipulate the media and stupid people latch onto stupid things. I think they're wholly detestable and it wouldn't bother me one iota if they were all eliminated in a fiery explosion.

I wasn't defending the monarchy, I also think it's stupid to have kings and queens, and all the attendant nonsense that goes with it.

I never said you shouldn't have posted your meme, I just said I didn't think it was funny. It's obvious you thought it was funny, or you wouldn't have posted it.

I will, however, dispute the fact that Harry is "famous for doing nothing".
As I pointed out, he would have been happy to remain in the military. That is not "doing nothing".
He also cannot be held responsible for having been born into a monarchy.
It's clear he has never been comfortable in the role of "prince". Which is why he
intends to remove himself from it.
His mother was hounded to her death. He doesn't want that for his own family.

My comments were never directed toward you.

@KKGator Looking back over what I wrote it does appear I have taken your comments personally. I always enjoy reading your comments and am comfortable disagreeing at times.

I acknowledge that the monarchy is a sensitive issue with me as it is with many in the British Empire. It irks me that my country is still part of this undemocratic archaic institution. The thought of calling someone 'your highness' or 'your majesty' sticks in my gullet. The royals are born (or choose to marry) into a rich and powerful institution. I have no sympathy for them if they get bad publicity while there remain homeless and hungry 'subjects' within their realm. Their wealth has come from taxpayers or in earlier days, serfs. They didn't earn my respect and I won't give it. Can you imagine how you'd feel if your Head of State lived 15,000 kms away, was not American, not chosen by any of your country folk and your taxes went to fund their occasional hand-waving visits? The only reason Australia is not a republic is because we can't agree on an appropriate republican system. With the American election circus as our main role model it tends to make people put up with the status quo.

@MsDemeanour I get it. And given what we have most recently installed as the so-called "head" of the government, I can completely appreciate the reluctance to definitively do away with the monarchy. At least for now, anyway.
The Scots seem to be making an effort to break away. I wish them all the success in the world! Maybe they'll be able to set an example, and a successful way out.

@KKGator . I admire the Scots.
