I read this and it makes sense. As with the amendment itself we only hear one side and not the whole thing nor the history behind it (one fool on this site told me automatic weapons have been around since before the Constitution was written)! Just like politics, it is money that makes a louder voice and everything else is drowned out. Emotional hype beats reason every time.

Said what? They had muskits at that time! You might get 2 or 3 rounds off in a minute! An AR-15 with a bump-fire stock, and a belt-fed upper could theoretically fire 800-900 RPM! I don't think that is what the Founding Fathers were protecting. Please give that guy a history lesson!

@JackPedigo Maybe he/she was just a troll. I have a hard time believing anyone can be that stupid! But Palin once said that Revere said he warned us that the British were coming to take our guns! Nothing really surprises me any more. You have different firearms for different applications. If you just want to go rabbit hunting for rabbit stew, you're probably going to want to use a .22 LR or a .17 HMR. If you want to hunt deer, you'd probably use a 30-30, 30-06, or 270. None of the hunting rifles I have ever seen were semiauto. Either bolt or lever. If you want to hunt something like a moose, you might want a 300 winchester.

@TheGreatShadow Nothing you have said is news to me. The comment(s) were made when I first joined last Oct. and I don't think many of understood the prevalence of trolls on the site. Yes it is hard to believe that these people can be sooo stupid but, unfortunately, many are.
We didn't get "bullets" until the end of the civil war. Can't have a automatic gun without bullets.

@MikeFlora Yeah, but I was going on the high end. An M-16 (or AR-15 that mimics one) will spit 30 rds in about 4 seconds. I don't have a problem with competent firearm owners that use it for game meat (I love it), but some things are unrealistic.
