That is true, but the second amendment forces us to be unable to adhere to that philosophy.

@Kojaksmom It does not. The first words of the amendment are "A well 'regulated' militia..." The Supreme court ruling also said regulations were not banned. Please don't believe all the hype from the industry and it's lackeys and look into the real issue which is, as usual, lies and distractions. Unfortunately, things are broken in this issue and because too many people still allow themselves to be ignorant and complacent nothing is being done to fix it.

@JackPedigo I agree, but it also says that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed upon .it's always been an uphill battle. The American population would rather sit on their ass and do nothing and watch their kindergarteners be blown to pieces than take action. The underlying problem that we have, if you ask me, is America has the lowest voter turnout of almost any other Nation. Until the American people believe that we have power ,nothing will ever change. Right now, the NRA and gun nuts are kicking our our asses on voting day.

@Kojaksmom The right to bear arms is already being legally infringed. Fully automatic weapons, rockets, armored tanks etc. are already restricted. And justifiably. The Dept. of Justice could easily restrict assault weapons tomorrow as well as other sensible restrictions.

@Kojaksmom Everything I have read and understand is that the 2nd amendment is not specific and both sides can make an informed ruling. It, like the so called bible, is simply a matter of interpretation.

@Kojaksmom From my view it is not numbers of voters that matter but rather how informed they are. I worked at a polling station 5 years and witnessed all kinds of stupidity. In the case of the NRA it is simply about enough money to buy the politicians.
A couple of years ago our county became one of the first to ban GMO farms. The opposing side put out such ridiculous arguments they were laughable. But there were people who believed them and voted on their side.
