It is not about the laws in the land... it is about the guns... how many more had to die before we realize that the only action should be the removal of all the guns from civilians hands. You can manufacture something else or become a farmer. We need to say No to guns.
Prohibition is not the answer. Ban all guns and only criminals will have them. Ban all guns and you'll get half the country into an uproar. I'm a gun owner in favor of sensible regulation. When you start advocating prohibition, you drive me and many like me away from the cause of gun control.
The problem is that it could never happen. Theres an estimated over 400 million of them out there, and that's a conservative estimate. 1- You would never be able to get half of them, much less all of them. 2- If you got all of the law abiding people to turn theirs in, then only the law breakers would have them, or you would turn a bunch of law abiding people into law breakers. You may as well just accept the fact that that is never going to happen here in the US, and try to figure out how to get guns away from the bad guys and mentally ill people..
We have been saying this for decades and things only get worse. Right now in our National Monument the feds are trying to implement the sites for recreational shooting. These are sites with trails and thousands of visitors. Hunting is allowed but under strict rules by the county (only certain times, no high powered rifles or pistols, only shotguns, muzzle loaders or Bow and Arrow). We have been asked to make comments and I mentioned the issue of lead poisoning the soil and air.
