Nothing anybody does is going to make an immediate change. It is going to take some time to take effect, but nothing is going to happen at all unless we start something somewhere. I also think doing anything nationally is going to be tough, most change is going to have to be on a more local level.
So the problem with most ideas for gun control isn't that just that criminals don't obey laws it's that most ideas that are proposed blanket law abiding gun owners.. There are MILLIONS of gun owners who are decent law abiding and sane individuals and youre quite frankly gona need us if you want gun control laws to pass....So if you're gona come up with stuff you've gota find ideas that aren't going to increase the cost or the hassle for the average gun owner.
The problem with this, is that criminals do not obey the law. You could ban guns alltogether. The criminal will still get his firearm.
@Michael64 Not nearly as well as the media has us believing. Think about it. Criminals are almost never registered voters, they do not obtain their firearms from licensed dealers, they don't register their guns. Japan just had a mass stabbing a couple of weeks ago. He got I believe thirty three people in a matter of about a minute. London had two mass shootings recently. Im not trying to change any one's mind. I just wish that the moral majority would take the time to educate themselves before joining the crusade bandwagon blindly as most do.
A gun costs $1000 in the US. It costs $34000 in Australia.
Crooks with $34000 and not mugging strangers.
@Dick_Martin
Funny that. My school friend got mugged by 2 refugees with a gun. Then 5 other people got mugged by the same pair. The police at a McDonald's didn't even believe my friend when he told them, he had to walk all the way to the police station with no money, no phone and no help from the police. So I don't trust them and I don't trust what you say either.
@Dick_Martin You can get firearms for $10.00 in the US.
@Dick_Martin, @Druvius Then those who think that have no room to bitch. And, they are some of the least firearm educated people in this country. I do see where you are comming from though.
Yes...But you are forgetting...Millennials DON'T V-O-T-E!!! I have a lot of hope for the "Parkland Generation", but Millennials...That ship sunk at port.
I hope you're wrong. ?
?
Millennials most certainly do vote. I raised three of them.
@LJ49 You must've raised them right then! But sadly, they are the exception. They are the biggest generation ever and even if a third of them voted it would be YUGE! But they aren't and it seems most of them "don't care" about politics. Sadly, I think a lot of them were big Bernie supporters (as was I), but became disillusioned with the political process after he didn't win. I get that, but just because you aren't "enthusiastic" about your voting choices isn't a reason to "give up". Glad your children are politically aware.
@randy2084 Thank you. I'd like to think that I raised them right. We had copies of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights framed in our livingroom. My children had to know what the Preamble meant as well as the Pledge of Allegiance. I would quiz them on this from time to time. We talked about voting, what the different parties were, the difference between a congressman and a senator, etc. I'm sure that my children hated it, but that is the price you pay when mom is an American History buff. Besides, they will thank me one day.
