On this issue I can understand how you gave him the thumbs up, but Corbyn gets sooooooo much wrong. I preferred Ed Miliband when he was leader of the Labour Party.

Mr Corbyn can promise such job destroying measures because he is currently leader of HM Opposition.A former Foreign Secretary in the Blair Government also wanted to end sales to such egregious nations as Saudi Arabia but Blair showed himself against any policy that would affect jobs or Britains role in supporting the US anywhere in the world.

Any Labour government seeking to end arms sales has to take on trades unions who do not want to lose jobs whilst existing arms contracts must be honoured not least to avoid legal action against the state which funded and approved these deals.

BAE Systems have offices and factories in 40 countries and 50 sites across the UK including Wales and Scotland.According to the Independent newspaper upto September 2017 UK armaments companies had made £6billion from the Saudis since it started bombing Yemen in 2015

Since then the Saudis have used British made weapons including Raytheon's laser-guided Paveway IV smart bomb made in Fife, Scotland which employs 560 people.The total workforce of Britains largest defence and security company is over 34000.across the 50 sites.Not all of these largely highly skilled engineers will be working on defence contracts but any diminution in production will affect the number of personnel employed, taxes paid and exports generated.Labour productivity in BAE and related industries is higher than the national average.

Is a truly left wing Labour government likely to cease selling arms to Saudi Arabia and presumably other regimes that do not respect human rights or are involved in civil or external conflicts ? The fact that it should is no assurance that it will.

And whilst at it add the other middle east terrorists - Israel, America, France, Britain?

I believe he is probably sincere in his wish to do this, but there would be so much lobbying from those without principles who would prefer to put winning the votes of those who say we need to keep the armament industry jobs and the money that brings into the country.....against murder and the slaughter of innocents. Saudi Arabia is a despotic and murderous regime but we call them our friends....what does that say about us?

I think Cornyn is leader because know one else really wanted the job.

What it says it will do and what it actually does when it comes into power don't always align. UK business with Saudi Arabia includes an aweful lot more than arms. Would Corbyn be prepared to sacrifice that, I suspect he would. Labour will not be getting my vote, nor will the Conservatives. Both seem eager to wreck the economy.
