Hello!!! I am Jamie from Oklahoma. I wanted to join this group because I love the UK and everything about it. The only place I have ever visited was Glasgow, Scotland

A woman of impeccable taste.I don't know if you have seen the film World War Z with Brad Pitt. The street scenes supposed to be of Philadelphia were filmed in Glasgow. We were obviously cheaper. I was down in Glasgow when they were filming and it was strange to see American street signs,mailboxes, police cars etc close to George Square.

It is good to be loved whatever color you are.

Welcome.

This is true. ?

Welcome, can we assume that since you express such regard for the UK, we can rely on you to spell colour correctly? ?

That depends on her humour doesn't it Len?

Colour and humour 😉

@FrayedBear I have a great sense of humour. ?

@JamieLynn80 then you will get along fine, so long as you learn to walk lopsided - we "legs been pulled againers" all do that - just have to avoid walking in circles!

Welcome to the group! I most certainly don't love everything about the UK (Brexit, the royal family, Tories, UKIP, the Daily Mail, fox hunting, Tommy Robinson, Piers Morgan) but there's definitely a lot of good stuff too - I hope you'll get a chance to come back one day!

Me too. There is so much I haven't seen. The accents are brilliant as well.

@JamieLynn80 I find British accents very interesting due to the wide variety and often surprising geographic differences. Cornwall and Devon sound completely different despite being neighbours, as do Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk despite all being in the same small region; Scouse and Brummie are limited to Liverpool and Birmingham and sound completely different to anywhere else, even towns only a few miles away, while people on the Welsh side of the border talk completely differently to people on the English side. I'm a little disappointed I ended up speaking public school received pronunciation when there are so many fabulous regional accents here!

I've eaten a few curries in Glasgow, and if all goes well I'll go there to eat some more. Best coffee on earth served in Glasgow too.

My son has a coffee bar in Great Western road just up from kelvin Bridge station. " Black Pine Coffee" His name is Pete and he serves great coffee. Call in if you are round that way.

@Moravian I will do. I may drop down to Glasgow during summer break if I'm not working too much

Greetings from Glasgow, Jamie! Or... well, near Glasgow. I've worked there before LOL

Hello Jamie...you are most welcome to join us, I am Marje and am originally from Edinburgh, although I have lived in Northern Ireland for the past 45 years.

I love Edinburgh. Last time I was in Scotland we went to the Edinburgh Zoo because I had never seen a panda in real life. It was amazing and the little penguin parade they have there so cute! Edinburgh is a beautiful city. I hope to go back soon.

@JamieLynn80 Me too! I hope to be back this summer.

Welcome, and I hope you will make it back to the UK again one day. Though sadly this does not seem to be a very active group, but sometimes it can be interesting.

Well I hope it becomes more active. ?

@JamieLynn80 Me too.

Posted by HawkeyeNew to this group, thanks for having me :) Thought I would share something that has had my poor wee atheist brain turning for a few days (the article is a few days old).
