Going back to my earliest childhood recollections of music at home…my parents played this record frequently….Donna Diana Overture composed by Emil von Reznicek. The Austrian composer wrote this overture in 1894 for his Comic Opera of the same name. This recording is performed by The Academy of St. Martin In The Fields, London conducted by Sir Neville Marriner.

….it’s interesting to note that he died in Berlin the year I was born in Edinburgh. How music is truly international and connects all of us in an inter-generational way is clear.

I like this.

I still like it…and it has good memories hearing it now too.

@Marionville That's great.

Very solid classical music. I liked the contrasting rhythms in the beginning, particularly the flowing, which reappeared later. Solid, but not really my taste!
So you are only 2 years my "senior". Not as old as anyone in my blood family. But I sure am not happy with the so easy exhaustion I have nowadays. How did I once hand clear 7 acres of woodland twice.

There’s no way we can expect to have either the energy or stamina that we had in our younger years. I’m somewhat astonished that I can still hit and sustain the high notes in my Soprano 1 vocal range. It’s the lower notes I find difficulty with if anything.

@Marionville Yes, once I had 3 octaves. Not now!
